Top reasons for social media in ministry

By Ray · Comments (0)

In the past few weeks, our church has tweaked our online social media ministry. Yes, we’re talking twitter and facebook. It has been a fascinating advance, and it has been rather stunning to watch the speed of folks responding to these connections.

We are working to use these outlets in very practical ways, and here are the neatest that I have seen so far:

1. Ability to quickly connect “news” to our group.

2. The blessing of easily expanding the ministry reach of our church globally!

3. The opportunity for inter-connectivity. It is cool to think of all the layers of relationships and friendships that can spin out of being a “friend”  of our church.

4. The potential of archiving thoughts, blessings, and activities of the membership for a period of time; a living journal.

5. Obviously, this is another way to share the Truth that Jesus Christ is the Way of Salvation. John 3:16!

What cool facebook or twitter ministry sights have impressed you?  Have you developed any cool applications for either of these web tools?

Live Blogging/Tweeting

By Ray · Comments (0)

Recently a friend of mine, Cory Miller, set up a new experience for me and that was to live post/chat during a convention. It was great!

I enjoyed the interaction so much, and apart from the brief bad feeling of staring at my iPhone to tweet during sermons, it has me contemplating ways to use this type of interaction in the future at our church.

Check out the look of this medium at www.baptistmessenger.com/live.

Southern Baptists in the Twenty First Century

By Ray · Comments (0)

If you have not checked out the site baptisttwentyone, make sure you stop by. Many young minds in baptist life have created a great site for discussion on broad issues, and the site offers up some great podcasts, and other resources.

Check out the promo for the meeting of B21 that will be coming up at this years Southern Baptist Convention in Louisville. B21 at SBC.
